Backlit display film is suitable for installation into backlit frames and can be used indoors or outdoors. The 205-micron polyester-based film features a translucent diffuser layer that allows the printed image to be viewed with or without rear illumination. We offer backlit prints and posters in standard sizes or custom sizes with no minimum order quantity or set up costs.
Designed For Rear Illumination
Backlit display film is specifically designed for the production of rear-illuminated graphics. The material is made from a polyester film that is coated with a translucent white diffuser layer on the face.
The image is printed to the face of the film and the properties of the material allow light to diffuse through from the reverse evenly.
Backlit film prints can be viewed with or without the rear illumination switched on although backlighting the print will give the image extra vibrancy and impact.
Compatible With Conventional Backlit Frames
Backlit film prints are designed for use with conventional illuminated frames (free-standing or wall-mounted) that use an illuminated back panel (LED or fluorescent tube design).
Backlit posters and prints are normally mounted behind an acetate sheet or sometimes a clear acrylic cover that keeps the flexible backlit print in place.
If your backlit frame requires a more rigid type of backlit material, we can offer to print directly to thicker acrylic sheets. We can also offer fabric backlit graphics that are sewn with silicone edging and designed for installation into tensioned fabric frames.
Please visit the rigid material and fabric materials sections of our website for details.
High-Density UV Printing
Backlit display prints are produced using a UV digital printing process. The liquid ink is output onto the face of the material before being cured to form a flexible, solid layer of ink that is highly durable and bonded to the surface.
UV digital printing provides higher quality results for backlit prints when compared to other processes that rely on using liquid ink which evaporates, losing opacity in the process.
We print using a specific profile mode known as 'double-strike' printing. This process actually prints the artwork twice to form a double layer of ink, increasing the ink saturation to compensate for the backlighting effect. The result is an image that is as strong and vibrant as possible even when illuminated.
Double-strike printed images will appear very dark without backlighting so if you intend on using your backlit prints without rear illumination on occasion, please let us know and we can print them for you using a regular colour mode.
Backlit Printing At Custom Sizes
Backlit display film can be printed in standard poster sizes or custom sizes. For an instant price, just input the dimensions you need, the total quantity of prints required and the number of different artwork designs you will be providing.
We stock backlit film material in rolls of 1520mm wide and so can produce prints at 1500mm x any given length.
Should you require a larger size backlit print, please get in touch as we can usually source other backlit film materials in wider roll widths.
Backlit prints are supplied cut to size and packaged securely in suitable tubes or cartons for delivery.
