display signs 2

When BBC Radio 1 needed a supplier to provide some new display boards for use around the studios, Printdesigns stepped up to the mark.

Previous signage was produced using basic plastic/foamex sheets and was simply overprinted in CMYK colour. Radio 1 were looking for something a little more interesting. Our brief was to provide signs that were not only modern and attractive in appearance but also cost-effective.

We selected a material called Skybond for the signs. Skybond is an aluminium composite sheet formed by sandwiching a composite plastic layer in between two sheets of aluminium.

Skybond is available in a range of finishes and for this project we opted for a brushed aluminium finish that provides a modern, almost industrial look.

Being a raw aluminium finish, we created artwork with a layered file so as to under-print certain parts of the sheet with white ink thus providing an undercoat onto which the full colour ink could be applied. After printing, the Skybond signs were digitally router cut using our Zund flatbed cutter, corners were rounded as so to remove any sharp edges.

Multiple deigns were produced for various parts of the building and you can see some examples of the signs here. Radio 1 were delighted with the signs and have already commissioned a second order.

Printdesigns can produce all types of interesting signs and display panels for use as permanent signage, exhibition displays or conference and event signage. Using our range of state of the art printing equipment we can always find a solution to match the customers needs whether it is a basic temporary sign or something more bespoke.
