Our printed PVC-free banners provide a more environmentally friendly advertising alternative to traditional PVC banners that are notoriously difficult to recycle. Printed PVC Free Banners are available in a choice of economy or premium grades, both of which are durable and hard-wearing for indoor or outdoor use being made from a strong polyester base material with a biodegradable, water-based acrylic coating.
Eco-Friendly PVC Free Banner Printing
We offer printing onto PVC-free banner material at widths up to 3.1 Metres and at almost any length which means that we can produce almost any sized custom-made size on demand.
PVC-free banners are printed using a UV digital process that provides a durable finish that is waterproof and highly resistant to fading too.
There is no restriction on the amount of colour that can be printed onto PVC Free Banners and the resolution of print is near photo quality.
Unlike some other printing processes, UV digital printing involves the use of no harmful solvents (VOCs) that are environmentally damaging.
A Recyclable Banner Solution
PVC is one of the oldest types of plastics discovered back in 1838. It is used to make all sorts of products from credit cards to food wrap, plumbing pipes, windows, medical equipment and more. It's a durable, hard-wearing material but it is also notoriously difficult to recycle. In fact, PVC is seldom recycled at all.
For short-term advertising banners, this is obviously not a good thing which is why many businesses are actively trying to reduce the use of PVC-based plastics as part of an overall commitment to sustainability.
Our eco-friendly PVC-free banner material is made from a base of polyester yarn that is coated with a biodegradable acrylic water-based solution. It has the durable characteristics of a PVC banner but can be widely recycled with other polyester-based plastics such as plastic water bottles.
It's important to note that PVC Free Banners are still very durable and can be used for outdoor promotions and advertising purposes rain or shine.
Eco-Friendly Banner Finishing
Printed banners are traditionally finished with a seam around the edge and eyelets so they can be hung using rope, bungee cords or other fastenings.
With some PVC-free materials, this is not possible because the material is not suitable for heat welding. This is a disadvantage since a double-thickness, welded seam gives maximum strength for the hanging eyelets that are punched through it.
Fortunately, our PVC Free banner can be heat welded in exactly the same way as the traditional PVC product so there is no compromise with regards to the strength of the eyelets.
We offer PVC-free banners with eyelets positioned at intervals of approximately 500 mm around the edge for hanging or we can finish the banner with pockets at the top and the bottom if you would like to slide rods inside to hang it.
If you don't want the banner finished with eyelets or pole pockets, that's no problem either!
Choice Of PVC Free Banner Material Grade
We have PVC-free banners available in two material grades. Our economy material has a weight of 210g per sqM and our premium material is heavier at 320g per sqM.
Both products are printed at the same photographic quality with no restriction on the amount of colour that can be used within the artwork.
We recommend the economy material for very short-term promotions and event use where the banner could be used outdoors for perhaps a week or two. The premium PVC-free banner material is much stronger and is therefore recommended if your banners will be used for longer periods outdoors.
It is worth noting that the lifespan of any outdoor banner is dependent on the prevailing environmental conditions and other factors such as the location it is installed and the method of installation.

PVC Free Mesh Banners - this type of banner (shown) is perforated which allows air to pass through the material and provides better durability for larger banners in exposed, windy conditions. We have a PVC-free mesh banner material available too.
Fabric Air Mesh Banners - similar to traditional mesh but made from lightweight polyester fabric with a woven perforation, these banners are fully recyclable and can be folded for transport.
