Printed stretch fabric is ideal for the production of display graphics that require a high degree of elasticity for tensioning. The knitted polyester fabric provides stretch on both the warp and weft planes and is ideal for for production of exhibition graphics that need to be wrapped around support frames. Stretch fabric printing can also be suitable for the production of products such as table covers that require a high resistance to creasing.
Stretch Fabric Properties
Stretch polyester fabric material is knitted from yarns as is shown in this simple diagram. The weave of the fabric yarns runs at 90-degree angles to one another. This 2 directional weaving pattern is known as the warp and weft.
Typically all knitted fabrics have different stretch characteristics on the warp and weft of the fabric. Our stretch fabric prints have about 20% stretch on the warp and about 10% stretch on the weft.
If you are ordering stretch fabric printing and have a preference as to which way your printed image is orientated on the fabric, please get in touch. We can then orientate your artwork when printing to ensure that you get the maximum degree of stretchiness on either the height or width of your print.
High-Quality Soft Touch Fabric
Our power stretch fabric has a soft, smooth feel with a tightly woven knitting pattern. It is ideal for the production of many types of display graphics and is particularly suitable for the production of printed fabric covers for event and display systems.
Stretch fabric graphics being highly elastic are not susceptible to creases as is the case with some polyester-based fabrics that feel stiffer. This means that the stretch fabric also works well for the production of products such as table covers when resistance to creasing is preferred.

Dye Sublimation Stretch Fabric Printing
Stretch fabric graphics are printed using a dye sublimation printing process that provides excellent colour reproduction, resolution and print durability.
Images are first printed onto transfer paper and then the printed image is transposed onto the fabric using heat.
The sublimation process converts dried ink onto the paper into gas that dyes the fabric. The resultant print is highly durable and can be machine-washed if required.
Printing of stretch fabric graphics is handled in-house at our own factory and we can print continuously from rolls of fabric of up to 3.2M in width.
Typically our printed graphics are supplied cut to size but we can leave them on the roll, untrimmed if preferred.
Sewing Of Stretch Fabric Graphics
As well as offering digital printing to stretch fabric, Printdesigns can also handle all aspects of cutting and sewing.
We utilise Zund digital cutting machines that are capable of cutting very precisely. The printed fabric can be supplied pre-cut to almost any size or pattern shape provided.
Stretch fabric printed graphics can be sewn in a wide variety of ways. Simple hems and pockets can be added at no additional cost or we can quote for finishing prints to include stretchy velcro, zippers or silicone edge beading (Keder) for use with various types of display systems.
If you require particular finishing on your prints, please contact us to discuss your requirements and we can help.
